What are they?
STDs are diseases that are passed from one person to another through sexual contact. The best known are: Chlamydia, gonorrhea, genital herpes, HPV (human papillomavirus), syphilis and HIV.
Many of these diseases do not present symptoms for a long time. Even without symptoms, they can still be harmful and be passed on during sex.
If I caught an STD, how will I know?
Many sexually transmitted diseases do not cause any symptoms. The only way to know for sure whether you have an STD or not, is to get tested. You can even get an STD by having sex with a person who doesn't have any symptoms.
Tests to check if you have an
STD / STI
Many laboratories offer these tests, the most important thing is to know if the patient wants to take a test for a specific disease because the person with whom she has had relationships has tested positive for this disease, if the patient wants to take a test to check if have any STDs or to rule out these diseases as the cause of your symptoms.

We also have the option of testing for a specific disease, this cheaper option is recommended for patients who have been informed that the person they have had sex with has tested positive for only one disease.
It is important to know if this person has had a complete test or not since there is the possibility of having several STDs at the same time.
Can STDs be treated?
Some of the STDs can be cured with medicines, such as chlamydia and gonorrhea. Other STDs, like herpes, can't be cured, but you can take medication to help manage your symptoms.
In many cases, the treatment has to be applied to 2 or more people to avoid contracting the sexually transmitted disease again.
